NEW Attendance and Participation Policy for 2023
As previously reported, BLL has a new attendance and participation policy. The final version of the policy is provided below. Each parent/guardian must agree to the policy at the time of registration.
Attendance and Participation Policy
As the parent/legal guardian of the above named child requesting placement on a Bluegrass Little League (BLL) team, I give my approval for his/her participation in any and all BLL activities, including transportation to and from activities. I will furnish a certified birth certificate, and any other documentation to prove eligibility to participate, of the above mentioned child to BLL officials upon request. I understand that my child is expected to consistently attend his/her BLL team practices and games. I understand that it is my responsibility to communicate with my child’s BLL team coach in advance if my child will miss a team practice or game for any reason in order for the coach to plan accordingly. If my child participates in a travel baseball program outside of BLL, I understand that he/she must prioritize participation at his/her BLL team practices and games over the travel baseball program’s practices and games when scheduling conflicts arise. If participation in the outside travel baseball program becomes a disruption to BLL and its operations during the season, I understand the BLL board of directors may take action deemed necessary in the best interest of the league as a whole, which may include the child’s dismissal from his/her BLL team. Note, the Rangers Baseball Club is not considered a travel baseball program outside of BLL for purposes of this policy.
General Player Draft Rules
Parents usually have questions about our league's player draft process. The Intermediate, Majors, Minors, and Rookie Divisions currently use a player draft process to assign players to teams. The underlying objective of the draft is to create teams who are equal in skill level and age in order to create parity, broaden quality coaching, and increase competition across each division.
Click on the following link to access the document with complete rules for the player draft process: PLAYER DRAFT RULES. The document provides information on player eligibility for playing division based on league ages, a glossary of key terms, evaluation sessions, kids for head coaches and designated assistant coaches, recruits, siblings, and the organization of the drafts.
These rules were developed and approved by the Transitional Executive Committee (TEC), which is the governing body appointed by representatives of Western Little League (WLL) and Southwest Lexington PONY (SWLP) to facilitate the merger process and operations of the merged league, Bluegrass Little League (BLL) throughout the 2023 playing season. The TEC has full authority to make variations, exceptions, and/or overrides to the rules on a case-by-case basis.

Weeball and Teeball Player Placement Policies BLL honors coach or team requests in Weeball and Teeball, when possible. The Teeball Coordinator also considers the age composition of teams to place players and utilizes his/her best discretion in the best interests of all players and teams in the division.
