General Player Draft Rules
Parents usually have questions about our league's player draft process. The Intermediate, Majors, Minors, and Rookie Divisions currently use a player draft process to assign players to teams. The underlying objective of the draft is to create teams who are equal in skill level and age in order to create parity, broaden quality coaching, and increase competition across each division.
Click on the following link to access the document with complete rules for the player draft process updated for the Spring 2025 drafts: PLAYER DRAFT RULES. The document provides information on player eligibility for playing division based on league ages, a glossary of key terms, evaluation sessions, kids for head coaches and designated assistant coaches, recruits, siblings, and the organization of the drafts.
These rules were developed and approved by the Executive Committee of the BLL Board of Directors. The Executive Committee has full authority to make variations, exceptions, and/or overrides to the rules on a case-by-case basis.
